REMARKS: HORARY PT., TING PT., DEPARTURE PT. of TM-gathers at GB13, Receives energy from Lung Meridian.

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: dental, maxillary pain, deafness, fever, tinnitus.

CLASSICAL FUNCTION: dispels wind, helps hearing, cooling and draining, Yang Ming fever (fever without sweat), awakens spirit and cleans orifices (for comatose or syncopal problems).

LOCATION:

    (a) On the middle of the second metacarpal bone, on the radial aspect.
    (b) At the highest spot of the muscle when the thumb and the index finger are brought close together.
    (c) Stretch the thumb and the index finger. The point is equi-distant on a line between the junction of the first and second metacarpal bones and the border of the web, slightly towards the second metacarpal bone.

NEEDLING METHOD:

    (a) Perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 inch.
    (b)Perpendicularly toward Laogong (P.8) 1.5 inches.

REMARKS: IUNN Pt. = SOURCE Pt., Lo Vessel from LU & Mian entrypt. into Yang Ming. Use as general commander of energy, Stimulates labor, stimulates all of the YANG levels.

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: headache (almost any kind), toothache,tonsilitis, pharyngitis, epistaxis, eye diseases, tinnitus, facial paralysis,excess sweating, hand pain. Shoring up against viral infections (colds,sore throats, principally URIs), early URIs use LI 4 with LI 20,GB 20. fevers, headache, facial pains, ENT pains, general energy problems (LI4 +LR3 said to treat all pain.) dental or surgical analgesia.

CLASSICAL FUNCTION: clears head and orifices of head and face of QI layer; elevates pure Qi and rejects impure Qi, regulates Qi circulation of LI, spreads LU QI, reduces fever, disperses cold - pathogenic factor,treats heat in five hearts in malaria, conjunctivitis and eye problems, cools and regulates damp heat -- jaundice and dysentery; calms spirit; pacifies heart - Yang type- imsomnia, agitation; brings on period, urturia and other skin problems.

REMARKS: Barrier Pt; useful in problems with the exit of yang from the arm to the forearm, e.g., tennis elbow with pain radiating down into forearm. Also acts as point for allowing exit of yang into hand.

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: digestive disturbance, dyspnea, lumbago, local arm pain.

REMARKS: Ho Pt. mother = tonification Pt., favorite pt. for throat problems; tonifies Yang Ming, especially with ST 25, LI 11 -( LI 11 for early sore throat, tonsillitis).

ANATOMY:

MODERN FUNCTION: chronic diarrhea, hypertension, tennis elbow.

CLASSICAL FUNCTION: disperses wind and heat and excess conditions, alleviates dampness, clears blood of heat, regulates Qi, circulation in lung, liberates exterior = common cold, fever, heat.

REMARKS: Needle deeply, major pt. unblocking shoulder pain, focal pt. for TM of LU, LI; distinct from LU, LI; principals of LI, SI, ST, Yang Oe,Yang Keo; part of deep drainage LU-LI.
