LU 1: ZHONGFU OR ZHANGFU
"Central Treasury", "Astral Palace" or "Central Residence"
zhong: central, center; astral
fu: treasury, storehouse; mansion, residence

LOCATION: Inferior and slightly lateral to LU 2, in the interspace of the 1st and 2nd rib, 6 cun lateral to midline of chest, approximately 1 unit below the lateral end of the clavicle.

NEEDLING METHOD: 0.5-0.7 inch towards lateral aspect of chest and pointed upwards.

ANATOMY: In the pectoralis major and minor muscles, in its deep position, in the internal and external intercostal muscles. On its superior, lateral side supplied by the axillary artery and vein, and by the thoracoacromial artery and vein. Supplied by an intermediate branch of the supraclavicular nerve, a branch of the anterior thoracic nerve, and the first intercostal nerve.

REMARKS: MO POINT for lung with IU point being Bl 13. REUNION POINT for Spleen meridian. With LI 15 it opens up the Distinct Meridian upward to LI 18. ALARM POINT.

MODERN FUNCTIONS: Vocal cord problems and laryngitis in conjunction with distinct meridian, coughing, asthma, dyspnea, frequently tender in depression or sadness, local or shoulder pain, sensation of energy rising to top.

CLASSICAL FUNCTIONS: Dispersing excess Yang energy in chest. Regulates Lu Qi and disperses fullness in Lung.

LOCATION: Below the acromial extremity of the clavicle in the depression lateral to the triangle of m. pectoralis, 6 cun lateral to midline.

NEEDLING METHOD: Obliquely 0.5-1.0 inch.

ANATOMY:

    Vasculature : The cephalic vein, the thoraco-acromial artery and vein; inferiorly, the axillary artery.
    Innervation: The branches intermediate and lateral aupra-clavicular nerve, the branches of the anterior thoracic nerve, and the lateral cord of the brachial plexus.

REMARKS: Can use instead of or coupled with LU 1, BARRIER POINT.

MODERN FUNCTIONS: Coughing, fullness in chest, asthma.

LOCATION: Above the styloid process of the radius, 1.5 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist. Or, when the index fingers and thumbs of both hands are crossed, the point is in the depression right under the tip of the index finger. It's located between the abductor pollicis longus and the brachioradialis, and medial to the extensor pollicis longus.

NEEDLING METHOD: Obliquely upward 0.5-0.7 inch.

REMARKS: LUO Pt sends to LI 4 YUAN. MASTER Pt of REN MO, COUPLE Pt on YIN KEO. Controls hand.

REMARKS: sends branch to CV 10 on YIN OE Guillaume says that this point is important for the transition from shao yin of infancy to tai yin of puberty, problems such as acne of adolescence for example.
