About the AAMA Continuing Education Program


AAMA Accreditation Information

The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture designates journal-based and video CME activities for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per article/course. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physicians who complete the CME course and score at least 75% correct on the quiz are eligible for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Statement of Educational Purpose
Medical Acupuncture delivers authoritative, evidence-based clinical papers, case reports, and research findings that integrate concepts from traditional and modern forms of acupuncture with allopathic medicine. Readers of Medical Acupuncture should be able to attain the following educational objectives: (1) read the CME article(s) to gain new information about specific research into acupuncture techniques and procedures and the implications of those findings for specific treatments and expected outcomes of those treatments; as well as understanding the implications of systematic reviews of acupuncture research; and be able to competently perform various styles and types of acupuncture as a result of enhanced instruction, (2) complete the quiz to assess their knowledge gained from reading the article, and (3) think carefully about how this new information may influence their own practices as reflected in the Post-Activity survey form. The educational objective for the CME article(s) immediately precedes the CME Quiz.

Viewers of AAMA video courses should be able to attain the following educational objectives:  (1) watch the video(s) provided to gain new information about specific research into acupuncture techniques and procedures and the implications of those findings for specific treatments and expected outcomes of those treatments; as well as understanding the implications of systematic reviews of acupuncture research; and be able to competently perform various styles and types of acupuncture as a result of enhanced instruction, (2) complete the quiz to assess their knowledge gained from viewing the video, and (3) think carefully about how this new information may influence their own practices as reflected in the Post-Activity survey form. The educational objective for the CME video(s) immediately precedes the CME Quiz.
  

Program Eligibility
Physicians are eligible for CME credit through AAMA. As a benefit of membership, AAMA members are eligible for CME through the Medical Acupuncture journal and AAMA video(s) for free. CME Courses may also be taken by individuals/non-members who purchase access for a nominal fee.

Earning CME Credit
You can access CME courses from the CME home page or in the Drop-down menu of Available CME Courses. To earn credit, read the article or watch the video that is designated for credit carefully and take the quiz. You can view and print a certificate awarding AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ when you successfully complete the quiz. You may save a partially completed quiz and return to it later by going to My Courses>My CME Sessions. You may take a quiz as many times as you like until you complete it successfully. Once you complete it successfully, you cannot take the quiz again. 

CME Deadlines
CME courses may be taken for up to 1 year after they are offered. Expiration dates are listed with the activity. In order to receive AAMA benefit of free CME credit, you must be a current AAMA member at the time you take the quiz for CME credit - you must login to an active AAMA member account on the website for free CME credit.
