AAMA gets a lot of press

·WUSA-TV/CBS 9 (November/December): Nader Soliman, MD. A patient and family member were interviewed for a segment on treating ADHD with auricular acupuncture.

·Men’s Health (March issue): Bryan Frank, MD. An interview on treating jetlag with acupuncture will appear in the “Malegrams” section. Circulation: 1,649,156.

·Lifetime Online/Strong Medicine (November 12): Dr. Soliman. Strong Medicine, the #1 rated original primetime dramatic hour on basic cable, hosted an online medial acupuncture chat.

·Rodale’s Fitness Swimmer (January/February issue): Marshall Sager, DO. The reporter interviewed Dr. Sager for a piece on treating asthma with acupuncture to run in the “Swim Shorts” section. Circulation: 70,000.

·Des Moines Business Journal (November/December): Drs. Frank and Jacqueline Stoken. A reporter at this weekly magazine did an article on insurance coverage for alternative and complementary medicine. Circulation: 25,000/week.

·Chattanooga Times Free Press (November/December) John Flanagan, MD. Reporter interviewed Dr. Flanagan for an article on acupuncture and the President’s Forum. Circulation: 106,200.

·Dr.Koop.com (November 6): Drs. Frank and Sager.  A story on the benefits of medical acupuncture appeared on the website on Oct. 4, and was then circulated on the daily e-newsletter on November 6, 2000. Monthly website Hits: 1,022,700.

·CBSHealthwatch.com (August/September): Drs. Soliman, Frank and May Loo. A story on treating learning disabilities with medical acupuncture ran the week of August 6.

·HealthNewsDigest.com (November 20): Gene Hong, MD. The cancer treatment side-effects release ran on the site’s “morning edition.” Circulation: 1,500 major websites in the US.

·Vicus.com (October 26/November 20): Dr. Soliman, Dr. Loo. The site ran a comprehensive, two-part series on treating ADHD with medical acupuncture. Average Monthly Site Hits: 15,000.

·WSBE-TV/PBS 36 Providence (November 26-December 6): Healthcare Directions’ website, HealthcareDirections.com, featured acupuncture information through Dec. 6.  Monthly site hits: 3,500.

·Washington Post (October 3): Dr. Sager. Treatment of Choice column on seasonal allergies Oct. 3.  Circulation: 782,779.

·WTTG Fox 5 (September 21-22): Dr Soliman. The doctor, a five-year-old patient and his mother were interviewed in Dr. Soliman’s office. Total audience: 341,000.

·Healthline – NewsChannel 8 (September 13-19): Dr. Soliman. News Channel 8’s Healthline ran the ADHD segment seven times in the week following the taping.

·Washington Post (September 12): Dr. Soliman. The Tuesday health section ran a “Treatment of Choice” column on treating ADHD. Dr. Soliman’s office received eight phone calls requesting more information the morning the story ran. Circulation: 782,779.

·Lifetime Online/Strong Medicine (September 3): Per a lead from Jim Dowden, the AAMA developed an acupuncture quiz to be posted on the website, http://www.lifetimetv.com/shows/strongmedicine/patientfiles/acupuncturequiz. The Academy is noted as the source of the information at the bottom of the page.

·Washington Sun (August 24): Dr. Soliman. ADHD release appeared in its entirety in this African-American publication with a circulation of 45,000 readers.

·HealthAtoZ.com (August 31): Dr. Nakazawa. Hosted a chat on osteoarthritis on August 31.  The transcript is posted on the AAMA web site and included in the report.

·HealthAtoZ.com (August 17): Jeff Baird, DO. Hosted a chat on acupuncture and migraines on August 15. The transcript is posted on the AAMA web site and included in the report.

·CBSHealthWatch (August 14): Dr. Sager. Dr. Sager’s story on cancer-related pain appeared in its correct form. The story was previously posted incorrectly.
