Treating Common Musculoskeletal Conditions with Osteopathic Manipulation, Meridian Therapy, Dry Needling and Manual Muscle Testing

GENERAL INFORMATION

The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture is pleased to announce another offering of an exciting education opportunity — a 2-day workshop to be held at in Chicago, IL on October 24-25, 2020, presented by Jay Sandweiss, DO, FAAMA & Joseph Audette, MD, MA.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This workshop will offer participants an opportunity to learn applied kinesiology and osteopathic muscle testing strategies for common musculoskeletal conditions in order to identify neuro-muscular inhibition patterns. Participants will learn to integrate basic osteopathic manual methods with acupuncture techniques such as dry needling and meridian therapies to resolve the condition and restore muscle and joint function instantly. These methods are part of a series of acupuncture techniques that produce rapid effects. Drs. Audette and Sandweiss will present a highly effective approach for diagnosing and treating common problems such as: tennis and golfer elbow, rotator cuff syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee pain, ankle sprains and neck and back pain issues throughout the spinal regions. Upon completion of this workshop attendees will have new tools for quickly assessing and treating musculoskeletal conditions throughout the body.  Attendees will learn to integrate osteopathic manipulation, Meridian Therapy, dry needling and manual muscle testing.

 

Jay Sandweiss, DO, FAAMA

Dr. Sandweiss has presented lectures and workshops for the AAMA numerous times over the past 25 years. His presentations are always appreciated for their valuable course content and the humorous and playful way in which he generously shares his knowledge and materials. Attendees will acquire useful new skills for addressing common patient complaints such as: tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, foot and ankle pain, shoulder pain, cervical and low back pain, just to name a few.

 

Joseph Audette, MD, MA

Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School and Chief of Pain Management at Atrius Health and Harvard Vanguard. He attended the Tristate Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in New York and is a recognized authority in point verification methods of acupuncture, Kiiko style of acupuncture, and dry needling techniques for the treatment of pain.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of this workshop participants will be able to:

• Test for neuromuscular inhibition patterns
• Apply the principles of dry needling and osteopathic techniques for relieving pain and restoring strength to several common musculoskeletal complaints
• Integrate meridian therapy with dry needling and osteopathic manipulation.

SCHEDULE

Saturday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

There will be a 15-minute break each morning and afternoon along with a lunch break. Continental breakfast and refreshments will be provided. Participants are on their own for lunch.

American Academy of Medical Acupuncture is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
