Manual Medicine and Functional Medicine Pearls for Medical Acupuncturists

GENERAL INFORMATION

The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture is pleased to announce another offering of an exciting education opportunity—a workshop focused on manual medicine treatments derived from osteopathic manipulative medicine to be held at The Signature at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV  on January 27-28, 2018.

By attending this workshop, participants will learn new diagnostic and treatment strategies for increasing competency and improving patient outcomes when treating pain and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Diagnostic techniques include: manual muscle testing, tissue palpation, motion testing, visual anatomical landmark assessment, tender point analysis, and somatic listening. Additionally, attendees will learn evidence-based nutritional/herbal pearls for treating a variety of common patient complaints.

Jay Sandweiss, DO, has been teaching health related courses since 1979. His audiences have included medical doctors, osteopathic physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, registered nurses, and other health professionals. Dr. Sandweiss is extensively trained in the fields of Osteopathy, Applied Kinesiology, Applied Nutrition and Chinese Medicine. In teaching his seminars, Dr. Sandweiss has the ability to integrate a wealth of information into a focused, practical model.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the conclusion of this workshop participants will be able to:

• Diagnose and treat shoulder problems through the use of manual muscle testing, osteopathic diagnostic procedures, and function medicine testing and treatment
• Diagnose and treat knee problems through the use of manual muscle testing, osteopathic diagnostic procedures, and function medicine testing and treatment
• Diagnose and treat foot and ankle problems through the use of manual muscle testing, osteopathic diagnostic procedures, and function medicine testing and treatment
• Diagnose and treat low back and hip problems through the use of manual muscle testing, osteopathic diagnostic procedures, and function medicine testing and treatment
• Diagnose and treat elbow and wrist problems through the use of manual muscle testing, osteopathic diagnostic procedures, and function medicine testing and treatment

SCHEDULE

Saturday 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Sunday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

There will be a 15-minute break each morning and afternoon along with a lunch break. Continental breakfast and refreshments will be provided. Participants are on their own for lunch.

American Academy of Medical Acupuncture is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
